I think it is quite hard to make a good work by using composition which contains more than one picture. Here is an example of this technique and I can say just that the effect is wonderful.

The top photo is really original, the idea is great. Vignette brings nice blue tones on the snow. But I think this picture apart wouldn't be so good.

Then the second photo makes the final effect. We have now nice leaves path connected with the close-up on one of these leaves. It has a power inside, isn't it?

Orange-yellow leaves on the snow and the soft blue toned background is as we see very successful way to express winter succeeding a gold autumn.

I really like this work, it is so much impacting.
